Eagles Unable to Solve Curve Ball

Written by  Hugh Bowden Friday, April 27, 2012 at 1:45 pm

ELLSWORTH — Lefthander Tyler Pineo made effective use of his curve ball, striking out 12 batters and allowing just two hits as he pitched the Washington Academy Raiders to a 4-2 win over the Ellsworth Eagles on Thursday.

Pineo also doubled in what proved to be the winning run in the top of the sixth to give the Raiders a 3-1 lead.

Ellsworth added a run in the bottom of the sixth when Josh Fowler reached on an error, Kyle Haslam singled Fowler to third and he scored on a balk by Pineo.

Ben Curtis also had a single for the Eagles.
