Lawsuit talk sparks tension

Written by  Robert Levin Wednesday, May 02, 2012 at 1:38 pm

BAR HARBOR — A hastily scheduled executive session to discuss the Appendix C lawsuit was called Tuesday by town councilors Jane Disney, Enoch Albert and Christopher Walsh. The reason for the meeting was not revealed publicly.

While the majority of the proceedings were held in private, with the town’s attorney present, some tension arose before the doors were closed when councilor Paul Paradis requested clarification on why he was recused from taking part in the discussion.

Councilor Bob Garland responded that there was no question of Mr. Paradis’ conflict. After studying the ethics ordinance, Mr. Garland moved that Mr. Paradis had a conflict and was supported by a 6-0 vote from the council.

The meeting lasted for more than an hour. There was no public discussion of what went on in the meeting.
