SULLIVAN — Freshman Emily Berry slammed a pair of home runs and Ashlee Leighton-Bragg had another as the Ellsworth Eagles crushed the Sumner Tigers 14-0 in five innings on Wednesday.
The Eagles jumped in front early, taking a 2-0 lead on singles by Annika Firestone and Heather Holt, an RBI ground out by Cristin Wright and a passed ball.
In the second inning, Sam McGuire bunted for a single and Berry followed with a two-run homer off the foul pole in left field.
In the third, Leighton-Bragg singled and scored on a double by McGuire.
Ellsworth added seven runs in the fourth inning.
Lexie Small reached on an error, Firestone singled and Heather Holt had an RBI single.
Leighton-Bragg then hit the first pitch over the left field fence for a three-run homer, Wright walked, stole second and scored on a McGuire single and Berry followed with a two-run homer over the left field fence.
The Eagles added two more runs in the fifth on walks.
Righthander Megan Hunt pitched a two-hit shutout, striking out four, for the Eagles and allowing just one runner to reach second base.
Jordan Merchant and Keira Eschete had infield singles for the Tigers.
