Tree Planting Workshop Set

Written by  Fenceviewer Staff Tuesday, May 01, 2012 at 9:42 am

BLUE HILL — The Jonathan Fisher House will host an apple tree planting workshop, with Leslie Cummins and Tim Seabrook of 5 Star Nursery, on Saturday, May 19, from 9 a.m. until noon.

The workshop is the third of a series of plantings in recreating Fisher’s historic 1821 orchard design, which include heirloom varieties that Fisher would have planted himself.

This orchard management workshop will cover the following topics: how to select, plant, nourish and protect fruit trees; weeding and insect control; grafting; how to save varieties of old trees; how to tell when fruit is ripe and much more.

Rain date for the event is May 20 from 1 to p.m.

Information: 374-2549.
