WINTER HARBOR — The Schoodic Education and Research Center (SERC) will be hosting an event to celebrate International Migratory Bird Day on Saturday, May 12.
The event will include a full day of birding activities. All activities will begin at the Moore Auditorium on the SERC campus.
The schedule of activities is as follows:
• 6-7:45 a.m. - Early birding walk and bird banding demonstration.
• 8-9:30 a.m. - Bagels and Birds; $5 suggested donation for breakfast.
• 9:30 a.m. to noon – 1. Deep Birding with Rich MacDonald; 2. From Campus to the Point with Bob Duchesne.
• 10:30-11:30 a.m. - Birding for children, parents and beginning birders with Angie King-Johnston.
• 11:30 a.m. to noon – Presentation: “How Bird Banding Helps Our Understanding of Birds in the Gulf of Maine.”
• Noon to 1 p.m. – Lunch, brown bag presentation by Bob Duchesne, “Why Birding Matters.”
• 1 to 2:30 p.m. - Live bird presentation with Grayson Richmond of Birdsacre, featuring owls; $5 suggested donation.
