BAR HARBOR — Food lovers will have a chance to taste local food and drink at the Taste of Bar Harbor Food Festival on Saturday, May 12, through Saturday, May 19. The Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce organizes the festival as a way to showcase the local and diverse cuisine, chamber spokesman Melissa Walls said.
The festival kicks off on May 12 with a pub tour from 5 to 9 p.m. sponsored by Atlantic Brewing Company. Souvenir sampler glasses and tickets will be sold at the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce on the corner of Cottage and Main streets.
On Mother’s Day, May 13, brunch is featured in Bar Harbor. Fathom, Rupununi and Side Street Café will open for a special brunch as part of the festival. Jeannie’s Great Maine Breakfast will be offering two eggs benedict for $20.12.
Many restaurants will be offering a $20.12 menu all week, whether it be an appetizer and glass of wine for $20.12 or two-for-$20.12, or a three-course meal for $20.12.
Thursday, May 17, is dessert night sponsored by the Bar Harbor Merchants Association. Seven restaurants will feature their signature desserts and one, voted best by diners, will win the title of best dessert.
And back by popular demand, on Friday, May 18 the Chef's Table event returns, sponsored by Pine State Beverage and M.S. Walker. Experience a seven-course dinner and pairings at one of four restaurants. Chefs will be giving tours, demonstrations and sharing recipes. The cost is $85 per person and is limited to 40 seats. There will be a reception for registered guests from 5 to 6 p.m. at Fiore Artisan Olive Oils & Vinegars.
The festival wraps up on Saturday morning with the Taste of Bar Harbor and Merchant’s Association Sidewalk Stroll and Craft Fair in downtown Bar Harbor from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Other events happening throughout the week include wine and beer tastings, cooking demonstrations, cooking classes and more. Visit the Taste of Bar Harbor on Facebook for more information.
