BAR HARBOR — Following some last-minute decreases to the Conners- Emerson School budget, the projected town budget for the next fiscal year now calls for a 2.7 percent increase in property taxes.
That figure is down from the 3.3 percent rise projected by town councilors and warrant committee members during their budgeting process. Residents will vote on the proposed fiscal year 2013 budget at town meeting at the beginning of June.
Changes to expected state revenues, and lower expenses, worked out to nearly $100,000 in savings, Mount Desert Island Regional School System superintendent Rob Liebow told town councilors on April 3.
