BROOKLIN — Maine State Police spokesman Steve McCausland said a man was badly burned during a suicide attempt Wednesday morning.
He said, 39-year-old Carl Christopher Angell of Brooklin had rigged a hose from his exhaust pipe in an attempt to asphyxiate himself, during which time the car overheated and caught fire. Firefighters pulled Angell from the driver's side of the burning car, which was parked behind the Brooklin Inn. Angell was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital where he is being treated for severe burns.
