DEER ISLE — Senior Sydney Ouzts pitched a no-hitter, striking out 17 and coming within one error of a perfect game as the Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners downed the Bangor Christian Patriots 7-0 on Tuesday.
The defending state Class D champions, who notched their second win, were led at the plate by Janelle Ciomei, who doubled twice and singled to drive in two runs.
Ouzts also helped her own cause, driving in two runs with a pair of singles, and Chelsea Brown singled twice to drive in two more as the Mariners hammered 12 hits against Patriot pitcher Rachel Guimmond.
