BANGOR — The Penobscot Valley Conference outdoor track season is under.
On Saturday at Cameron Stadium in Bangor, four George Stevens Academy Eagle athletes went away with top honors.
In the nine-team boys’ meet for GSA, Baxter Forrest won the 1,600-meter racewalk in 12:12.63; River Plouffe Vogel won the 1,600-meter run in 4:45.95; and Sam Stahnke won the 3,200-meter run in 10:33.80.
Boys’ team scores were Bangor 131.5, Hampden Academy 128, Orono 66, Mattanawcook Academy 64, Penquis 50, GSA 47, Fort Fairfield 44, the Mount Desert Island Trojans 43.5 and Fort Kent 2.
In other scoring for GSA:
Vogel placed third in the 3,200-meter run in 10:58.45.
Benjamin Plohr was fourth in the 1,600-meter run in 4:52.13
The foursome of Paul Ferreira, Nate Cole, Vogel and Plohr was third in the four-by-400-meter relay in 3:54.97.
For the MDI Trojans:
Ezra Hallett was second in the discus with a throw of 112 feet, 6 inches, and second in the shot put with a throw of 39 feet.
Richard Helmke was runner-up in the 800-meter run in 2:07.97.
The foursome of Ransom Burgess, Aidan Robichaud-Ward, Jordan Harris and Max Mason was second in the four-by-800-meter relay in 9:39.08.
The foursome of Helmke, Thomas Reilly, Brandon Murphy and Chris Clemens was fourth in the four-by-100-meter relay in 48.21 seconds.
Clemens was fourth in the triple jump at 34 feet, 11.75 inches.
Harris tied for fifth in the pole vault at 9 feet, 6 inches.
Will Richard was sixth in the 800-meter run in 2:20.74.
Aaron Jewett was sixth in the javelin with a throw of 116 feet, 10 inches.
In the girls’ meet, MDI’s Trojans dominated in the 800-meter run, claiming four of the six scoring positions.
Isabel Erickson was the winner in 2:39.01, Maggie Painter was second in 2:41.17, Olivia Erickson was third in 2:42.64 and Kayla Ray was sixth in 2:45.23.
In girls’ team scoring, it was Bangor the winner with 192.5 points, followed by Orono 131, Fort Fairfield 68, Hampden Academy 66.5, MDI 43, Fort Kent 19, Mattanawcook Academy 19, GSA 18, Penquis 9, Greenville 6 and Washburn 6.
Others who scored for MDI:
The foursome of Painter, Waylon Henggeler, Isabel Erickson and Caroline Driscoll was second in the four-by-800-meter relay in 10:49.29.
Isabel Erickson was second in the high jump, clearing 4 feet, 8 inches.
Ray was fifth in the javelin with a throw of 75 feet.
Liana Arquette took first place in the shot put for GSA with a throw of 29 feet, 8 inches.
Also scoring for the Eagles was Nicole Bakeman, who was fourth in the 1,600-meter run in 6:30.21 and fourth in the 3,200-meter run in 14:10.96.
