Written by  Hugh Bowden Friday, April 20, 2012 at 10:47 am

BUCKSPORT — Riley DeWitt doubled and David Barnard singled to drive in a pair of first-inning runs as the Ellsworth Eagles jumped in front and never trailed in a 6-3 win over the Bucksport Golden Bucks on Thursday.

Ellsworth added a run in the second on an RBI single by Josh Fowler after Dustin Smelley singled.

In the third, DeWitt singled, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on successive balks by Bucksport pitcher Asher Bowden.

Bucksport’s first run came on an RBI double by Gabe Stearns and Carter DeRedin scored in the third inning on an Ellsworth error.

The Eagles added their final two runs in the fourth inning.

Del Beckwith doubled, Fowler walked and both runners advanced on a double steal.

Beckwith scored on a sacrifice fly by Kyle Haslam and Fowler scored on a Bucksport error.

The Golden Bucks added one more run in the bottom of the seventh when Mike Cummings tripled and scored on a single by Tyler Maguire.
