PROSPECT — Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Observatory will open Sunday, April 29, two days earlier than usual.
Both sites will be open daily through the end of October. The fort is open from 9 a.m. to sunset each day, while the observatory is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (except in July and August, when it closes at 6 p.m.)
Many special events are scheduled at Fort Knox this year. For a complete list of those events and state-set fees, visit the Friends of Fort Knox website: fortknox.maineguide.com.
Additionally, the Penobscot Narrows Bridge will be lit up at night from June 21 through Halloween this year (previously, it was only illuminated from July through Labor Day). The Friends group recently approved additional funding to make that possible.
