BLUE HILL — A local woman has opened a barbershop at 75 Mines Road at the rear of a new building next to Marlintini’s.
“There hasn’t been a barbershop since at least ’94 that I know of,” said barbershop owner Lori Conlon.
Barbering is in Conlon’s blood.
Her mother, Michelle Conlon has operated the Bucksport Barber Shop for the past 12 years. Before that, the elder Conlon was the Maine Maritime Academy barber.
Lori Conlon went to Pierre’s Cosmetology School in Bangor after attending George Stevens Academy.
Conlon worked for her mother in Bucksport for six years before striking out on her own.
All haircuts at the Blue Hill Barber Shop are $8 and the shop is open Tuesday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Telephone: 374-9310.
