ELLSWORTH — Coastal Health Center has contracted with NorDx Laboratories (NorDx) to expand its services.
NorDx, Maine’s first independent licensed clinical laboratory, will now manage and staff the laboratory component at the center.
The exclusive service partnership begins this month and includes expanded laboratory services designed to enhance the services offered at Coastal to patients and physicians in the community.
Blood draws for lab testing are now available on a walk-in basis from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. with lunch from 12:30 to 1 p.m. All patients are welcome.
Dr. Stephen Nightingale, the center’s operator, said, “We believe this collaboration supports our mission and values as a health care community resource providing vital services and it reinforces our focus on delivering customer satisfaction, quality care and cost savings.
“It will enhance our ability to provide rapid turnaround times on an increased number of laboratory tests and reporting services.”
Practice Manager Alicia Handy said NorDx was selected “to provide expanded laboratory services from a number of laboratories, including national providers.”
“We assessed the capabilities, credentials and service and performance history, along with the mission and values of each bidder to ensure the best fit for Coastal, its patients and its staff,” Handy said. “After a rigorous review process, NorDx was selected as the laboratory provider of choice.”

Coastal Health Center provides general internal and pediatric medicine and emphasizes preventive medicine. Patient services include comprehensive physical exams, general practice, physical therapy, cardiac intensive care, child and adolescent care, newborn care, adult and geriatric care, gynecology, sports medicine, comprehensive skin care and more.
