BAR HARBOR — The Mount Desert Island High School sailing team bested George Stevens Academy twice in recent weeks. MDI won 4-1 on April 4, and 7-0 on April 11.
“Neither (win) is a true measure of what the season will be like once all the sailors are up to speed in the 420s,” said head coach George Deans.
Against the Eagles on April 11, MDI battled light air and a shorter-than-average course en route to its 7-0 win. Sailors Amelia Kief, Josiah Welch, Parker Brown, Lily Lichtenstein, Natalie Butler, Sophia Krevans, Sean Beaulieu and Paige Speight took to the water first, posting several bullets and allowing no score from GSA. A bullet is a first-place finish.
MDI was set to host the Eagles again on Wednesday, April 25 at 4 p.m. out of Great Harbor.
