The church is pleased to share that it was a great success, and would like to extend its appreciation to those who attended and helped with the event.
There have been reports around town of suspicious activity and vehicles stolen. Many folks are experiencing hard times, which is no excuse for stealing from others. Please keep your eyes open and watch out for your neighbors.
It won’t be long now before we are swatting the dreaded blackflies! With the beautiful weather we have been having, I suspect there will be plenty of early gardeners prepping their yards for the coming months, including those of us who already need to mow the lawns. Just a reminder that after speaking with our veterinarian, they are cautioning people to be aware of ticks. They are predicting this year to be an active one for ticks, so check yourself, your kids and your pets especially after spending time outside.
Another reminder to be sure not to burn your grass or brush piles without a burn permit. Contact the chief, Bob Grindle, at the Fire Department to get your permit and to check the fire dangers. There is a costly fine for anyone caught having a fire without a permit.
There will be a guest speaker on April 23 at Sumner High School. John Halligan will be speaking about his experience as a parent of a child who was bullied, and his journey to raise awareness and prevention of bullying. Sadly, Mr. Halligan’s son took his own life as a result of being terrorized. Mr. Halligan will be speaking to the students of the high school, including seventh- and eighth-grade students from the area feeder schools. Parents and community members are also welcomed to come. Please remember to sign in at the office at the high school when you arrive.
