TREMONT — Our precious loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on April 13, 2012. She was born Feb. 16, 1919 in West Tremont to Bessie E. Black and Joseph Everett Black.
She married Kenneth P. Farley in August of 1936, a marriage that lasted 70 years. He predeceased her in May of 2007.
The past five years were a struggle that she endured with strength and determination to remain in her home.
She went to work in the sardine factories at age 15 to help support her mother, sister Mertice and her brother Clayton, and continued to work there most of her life. She was a tireless worker and homemaker who enjoyed cooking, sewing and doing beautiful embroidery.
Most of all she enjoyed watching and feeding the birds. She can rest now in God’s loving care and have the peace she has longed for.
We will love you and miss you always and hold our memories of you in our hearts.
She is survived by her three loving daughters Priscilla Harper, Lucille Watson and Nancy Tracy and her husband Lee; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren all of who loved her dearly.
A graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery in West Tremont on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name to the Tremont/Southwest Harbor Ambulance Service would be appreciated.
