BAR HARBOR — The Bard will make an appearance in Bar Harbor on Monday, April 23, when actor Tim Mooney brings his one-man show “Lot o’ Shakespeare” to the Higgins-Demas Theater at Mount Desert Island High School.
Mr. Mooney describes the hour-long show as “A One-Man Classical-Comical-Tragical-Historical-Pastoral Play.” His performance is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will be followed by a question-and-answer session and a “party/wake” with refreshments, including cake, in honor of William Shakespeare. Shakespeare’s actual date of birth is unknown but traditionally is celebrated on April 23; he died on April 23, 1616.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and will be sold at the door.
The show was underwritten by a donation from the parent of a student in last year’s theater program at the high school.
“It gives us an opportunity not only to bring Tim Mooney in, but maybe make a little money back on ticket sales,” said the high school’s Casey Rush. “Our hope is to roll that back into the same account so next spring we can bring in someone again.”
