Blue Hill Salsa Company Inks Marketing Deal with Red Sox Slugger Ortiz

Written by  Jennifer Osborn Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 8:28 am

BLUE HILL — Sisters Salsa has signed a marketing agreement with Red Sox player David Ortiz to supply his line of gourmet food products called Big Papi’s Kitchen with salsa.

Sisters Salsa is made by hand with fresh ingredients at a facility off Hinckley Ridge Road. The refrigerated salsa is preserved with fruit juices, vinegar and salt.

“They discovered us,” said Jim Buddington, Sisters Salsa’s owner. “The marketing group had the goal of getting some products for Big Papi’s Kitchen.”

The agreement with the Ortiz people came about after nearly a year of negotiations. The proposed agreement was pending for a while, during which time Ortiz waited to hear if he was still with the Red Sox.

Should Ortiz leave the Red Sox before the three-year deal with Sisters Salsa is up, the salsa will move with him.

“So we can co-brand wherever he goes,” Buddington said.
