ELLSWORTH — “Dancing with Ellsworth Stars,” a Downeast take on the popular competition television show is Saturday, April 21, at 7 p.m. at The Grand Auditorium.
Six couples will compete for votes to raise money for Grand programming.
The dancer/star duos include Mike Connolly and “Timber” Tina Scheer; Charles Sidman and Ellsworth High School senior Mallory Nightingale; dancer David Lamon and YMCA Fitness Director Robin Clarke; dancer Elizabeth Pouwels and marathon runner Tim Tunney; dancer Kelly Fitzpatrick and state Rep. and distance runner Louie Luchini; and dancer Sue Stone and state Rep. and innkeeper Rich Malaby.
Mary Laury of Schoodic Arts for All in Winter Harbor and Bernard Hope, The Grand’s development director, will serve as judges along with Cindy Michaels of WVII Channel 7 News.
Stu Marckoon, morning news anchor at WNSX, will return as the master of ceremonies.
Audience members will vote with their dollars for their favorite dance teams.
But, there will be entertainment in addition to the dance teams.
Clarke will lead a halftime show of Zumba All Stars, which will consist of her instructors and students, including Ellsworth American Managing Editor Stephen Fay, who is a certified Zumba instructor himself.
Clarke said the group will perform a two-minute routine to a song called “Shake Senora.”
