Earth Day Challenge Issued

Written by  Fenceviewer Staff Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 3:54 pm

AUGUSTA — All Maine elementary school children are invited to enter an Earth Day artwork contest sponsored by the Natural Resources Council of Maine (NRCM).

The artwork may be up to 8.5-by-11 inches and will be featured in a slideshow online at www.nrcm.org. In addition, artwork submitted will automatically be considered for use as an image on a T-shirt for NRCM’s 5K and kids’ fun run event in September.

The art should reflect images of a pollution-free world, in honor of Earth Day and environmentalist Rachel Carson’s contribution to a cleaner environment.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the publication of Ms. Carson’s famous book, “Silent Spring.”

Submissions for the Earth Day slideshow may be mailed or dropped off, by the end of April, to the Natural Resources Council of Maine, 3 Wade St., Augusta ME 04330. Alternatively, photographs of the artwork, or questions about the event, may be e-mailed to Stacie Haines at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
