Liebow picked for Mass school post

Written by  Dick Broom Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 8:51 am

BAR HARBOR — Rob Liebow, superintendent of the Mount Desert Island Regional School System, has been chosen as the new superintendent of schools in Rockport, Mass.

The Rockport school board voted unanimously to offer him the job Wednesday night.

Mr. Liebow was among 47 applicants for the position and one of two finalists. The current superintendent, Susan King, announced in January that she would be stepping down.

Mr. Liebow, who has been superintendent here for the past eight years, was also a finalist for the superintendent’s job in Ashland, Mass. But he informed the school committee there on Tuesday that he was withdrawing from consideration.
