ELLSWORTH — A man who prosecutors describe as a serial burglar was sentenced Tuesday to spend six years in prison.
Adam Gray, 28, of Waltham was sentenced in Hancock County Superior Court to eight years in prison, with all but six years suspended. He is to serve three years probation following his release and pay more than $14,000 in restitution.
According to District Attorney Carletta Bassano, Gray was indicted in 2010 on 34 counts of burglary and theft charges. The burglaries occurred between May and September of 2010.
Gray also was indicted in 2011 on theft and bail violation charges, Bassano said. He additionally faced four other bail violation charges.
None of the burglaries occurred at private residences, Bassano said. The list of charges against Gray includes burglaries at two Blue Hill churches, the Deer Isle Fire Department, the Deer Isle Masonic Lodge, EBS in Blue Hill, Duffy’s Restaurant in Orland, the Eggemoggin Store and Yanni’s Pizza in Blue Hill. Items taken include cash, a chainsaw, and computers and other electronic equipment.
In a burglary of the Island Country Club in Deer Isle, Gray took cash and a shirt with the club’s logo.
“The same shirt he was wearing when he was arrested,” Bassano said.
Charges against Gray were elevated from Class C to Class B because of a burglary conviction in 2007 in which he was sentenced to four years in prison, Bassano said.
