BAR HARBOR — College of the Atlantic’s performing artist-in-residence, Lisa Leaverton, is offering an evening workshop in theater improvisation this spring. The workshop will meet Wednesday from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. April 4 through May 9. Come once, or come each time. There is no charge and no experience is necessary.
The workshops are open to members of the general public as well as COA students and faculty.
The workshop is called “Templates for encounters with people: A theatrical exploration of our human response to the needs of ‘others’.” Ms. Leaverton describes the workshop as using “theater improvisation and formal experimentation with movement, text, sound, and objects to discover original performance vocabularies.”
Ms. Leaverton is a playwright, collaborative artist and activist from Brooklyn, N.Y. who runs a theater collective. Recent works include “Correctionville,” “Swallow; for the worms,” a full-length play about seeds.
