CASTINE — Maine Maritime's junior catcher, Leah Jackson (Dedham) was named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Softball Player of the Week on Monday.
Jackson set Maine Maritime's mark for career home runs as the Mariners swept Maine-Presque Isle in Friday's season opener. Jackson punched her ticket for three round trips, including a walk-off homer in the nightcap, giving her 13 jacks in her career. She was solid throughout opening weekend going 7-for-13 with nine RBIs and seven runs scored. All but one of her hits went for extra bases. She rapped out three doubles on the weekend to go with the home runs, leading the Mariners to a record of 3-1.
Jackson and the Mariners head down I-95 for games at Mass. Maritime and Fisher College.
