LAMOINE — State police are continuing their investigation of a Sunday morning shooting that left one man dead and three others injured.

Lt. Chris Coleman, commanding officer of the northern division of the state police’s major crime unit, said at a press conference Monday that no one has been charged in the incident.

“It will be quite sometime before we get answers,” Coleman said. “We have not drawn any conclusions.”

The shooting occurred outside a home on Route 184 shared by Michael Carter, 30, and Tacy Mullins, 22, both of Lamoine.

According to Coleman, gunfire erupted when four men arrived at the home around 4:30 a.m. in two separate vehicles.

Lawrence “Randy” Sinclair, 32, of Ellsworth died Sunday at Eastern Maine Medical Center (EMMC) in Bangor of injuries sustained from the shooting.

Another victim, Torrey Garland, 34, of Ellsworth is in critical condition at EMMC, Coleman said. Police have not been able to interview him.

Carter also was shot and is being treated at the Bangor hospital for less serious injuries. of Lamoine.

The fourth victim, Joshua McKinney, 25, of Ellsworth was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A fifth man, 24-year-old Jacob Sinclair, was at the scene but not injured.

Detectives have recovered a gun they believe was used in the shooting. Coleman would not specify what type of weapon was recovered.

After being shot, Garland tried to drive away in a pickup truck but, due to his injuries, crashed about a half-a-mile from the scene, Coleman said.

“It’s our understanding Garland borrowed the truck from a friend,” Coleman said.

Coleman did not release any other details of the shooting.

“We’re still trying to determine who was where and what happened,” he said.

Coleman said police believe that this wasn’t a random shooting and assured members of the public that they are in no danger.
