Written by  Saturday, February 04, 2012 at 12:24 pm

BANGOR — The Mount Desert Island High School swim team is en route to the Penobscot Valley Conference Championships after facing off against John Bapst in the final regular season dual meet on Feb. 3.

“I feel good about it,” said head coach Tony Demuro. “The kids are really starting to get moving and it’s time. We have two meets left and these are the meets we really, really care about.”

The MDI boys will compete in the Penobscot Valley Conference Championship at Husson University on Friday, Feb. 10 starting at 6 p.m. The girls will compete in the championships on Saturday, Feb. 11, at Husson starting at noon.

“There’s a lot of energy at that pool,” said DeMuro. “All the teams are there and there’s 14 teams competing now. You get that many people on deck and in the stadium and it’s pretty energizing.”
