WATERVILLE — Sam Goda (Eliot) led all scorers with 20 points as Maine Maritime toppled Thomas 80-47 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play Tuesday evening. The win snapped a two-game skid for the Mariners (11-12, 8-8 NAC), who have knocked off the Terriers (5-18, 5-12 NAC) in each of the last 18 meetings.

Goda shot 9-of-13 from the floor and posted six rebounds for the Mariners. Maine Maritime's shooting was stellar in the first half, with the Mariners hitting 17-30 (56.7%) from the field. Casey McCloskey (Howland) led the charge for the Mariners scoring 13 of her 15 points and recording four of her seven assists. Thomas kept the game close early on, but the Mariners inside game proved to be too strong as they outscored the Terriers inside 22-6.

Maine Maritime led the Terriers by 17 at the break, 43-26.

The Mariners continued to use their defense to fuel their offense in the second half by holding Karin Bird scoreless, and rolling up 18 points off of turnovers. Maine Maritime's bench also played an important role in the contest, outscoring the Terriers' bench 43-16. The Mariners had three players in double figures. The reigning NAC Rookie of the Week, Bekah Campbell (Corinth) scored 10 points to join Goda and McCloskey.

Karin Bird posted 14 points, all in the first half, to pace Thomas.

The Mariners return to action Friday evening against Lyndon State.
