All members of the Mariaville Volunteer Fire/Rescue Department would like to thank everyone in the communities of Mariaville, Otis and Waltham, along with the Otis General Store, for meals and services provided in the search and rescue efforts for Matthew DeVillo on Friday, Jan. 21, and Saturday, Jan. 22. A special thank you to the Maine Warden Service and Waltham Volunteer Fire Department.
Matt was a valued member of the department, always wanting to learn and participate in training. Matt had just donated three FireGround Compasses to the Fire Department. The FireGround Compass is a lifesaving tool that can be used by any firefighter to orient themselves at an emergency scene, thereby reducing the possibility of becoming lost, trapped, injured or killed.
The Mariaville Volunteer Fire/Rescue Department will be sponsoring a benefit spaghetti supper with garden salad, rolls and dessert for the DeVillo family on Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Beech Hill School in Otis, starting at 5 p.m.
Matt was number 17 in the department and he will be dearly missed.
If anyone is interested in helping out at the benefit supper, please contact either Karen Murray (537-3165) or Everett Austin (537-3124).
