Written by  Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 10:58 am

BAR HARBOR — The Mount Desert Island High School girls’ varsity basketball team prevailed Monday in a nail-biter over the Old Town Coyotes, 38-33.

The Trojans outscored the Coyotes 16-7 in the fourth quarter with a series of impressive foul shots. Throughout the game, MDI went 18 for 26 from the foul line, compared to Old Town’s 3 of 5.

Hannah Shaw of the Trojans scored a game-high 27 points.

MDI is now 11-4.

The MDI girls want to thank all their fans for supporting the “wear pink” breast cancer awareness night that was held during the game.

“Thanks everyone for supporting the cause,” Coach Brent Barker said. “We’re really grateful.”
