HOLDEN — Abbie L. Carpenter, 94, passed into the hands of her Lord Jan. 28, 2012, at Stillwater Health Care, Bangor. She was born Aug. 9, 1917, in Marion, the daughter of William C. and Sadie I. (Roberts) Grant.
Abbie married Phillip Carpenter Nov. 12, 1939, in Ellsworth. They were married 52 years and raised five sons, three daughters and two grandsons. She was a member of the East Eddington Community Church, where Sunday was the highlight of her week. Abbie enjoyed the outdoors to the fullest, planting her gardens, picking berries and raising her babies.
She is survived by sons, David and wife, Nancy, of Winterport, Galen of Bangor; daughters, Jean Boynton of Holden, Karen Quimby of Bangor, Toni Parsons and husband, William, of Citra, Fla.; and a special daughter, Anna; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Phil; sons, Phillip, Vernard and Richard; grandson, Jefferson Grey; brother, Henry; sister, Jessie; half brothers, Harry and George Grant, and Joseph Farley Jr.; half sisters, Emily and Helen Roberts.
A special thank you to those who loved and cared for her in later years.
Spring interment will be at Bayview Cemetery, Franklin. Contributions in Abbie’s memory may be made to the East Eddington Community Church, P.O.
