Acadia Fire Tryouts

Written by  Fenceviewer Staff Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 5:30 pm

BAR HARBOR — Entering its fourth year, the Acadia Fire FC (AFFC) is offering many soccer opportunities for players in the 2012 winter-spring season.

On Sunday, AFFC will have tryouts for the U12 and U14 teams in the Mount Desert Island High School gym.

AFFC coaches are looking for players who are athletic, focused and are eager to put effort into learning soccer skills. The soccer season will last through June 10. Teams will generally practice two times per week through the winter and spring with league games in May and June.

AFFC also is offering an eight-week Winter Academy program for U8 and U10 players starting Jan. 20. The Winter Academy participants will attend skill practices on Fridays at the YMCA and scrimmages on Sundays at the MDI High School gym.

The group will have both a boys' and a girls' high school club team that will begin practicing the week of Feb. 27. High school teams will practice one to two times per week with league games in May and June. Any soccer player who played junior varsity or varsity soccer last fall can sign up for a team.

In late Spring, AFFC also will have tryouts for a U23/adult team that will play in a regional league during the summer.

Players can register and pay online at acadiafirefc.com. For further information, contact Michael Curless at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
