Curts and Looker Keep on Winning

ORONO — As they’ve been doing all season, Ellsworth Eagle sophomores Dan Curts and Aleta Looker took top honors in their respective events at Saturday’s Eastern Maine Indoor Track League competition at the University of Maine fieldhouse.

In boys’ meet B, Curts raced to victory in the two-mile run with a time of 10:02.10, besting his nearest competitor by more than 46 seconds.

In the boys’ team competition, the Bangor Rams dominated with 199 points, followed by Foxcroft Academy 77, Hermon 59, Sumner 40, Brewer 30, Ellsworth 26 and Bucksport 1.

Other county athletes who scored:

Four-by-880-yard relay: Taylor Lee, Zac Wells, Braden Wentworth and Brandon Wade, Sumner, second in 9:37.37.

55-meter hurdles: Tyler Getchell, Ellsworth, fifth in 9.99 seconds.

55-meter dash: Baramee Janla, Sumner, third in 7.25 seconds.

Mile run: Robert Looker, Ellsworth, fifth in 4:58.49.

800-meter run: Lee, Sumner, second in 2:10.04; Looker, Ellsworth, fourth in 2:15.21.

200-meter run: Kyle Jordan, Sumner, fourth in 25.11 seconds; Eric Davis, Bucksport, sixth in 25.60.

Two-mile run: Frank King, Ellsworth, fifth in 11:10.11.

Four-by-220-yard relay: John San Diego, Wade, Janla and Jordan, Sumner, third in 1:43.44.

High jump: Jordan, Sumner, second at 5 feet, 6 inches; Getchell, Ellsworth, third at 5 feet, 4 inches.

In girls’ meet B, Looker accounted for 20 of Ellsworth’s 24 points, winning the 800-meter run in 2:21.87 and finishing more than a minute ahead of her closest opponent with a time of 11:54.65 in the two-mile run.

In the girls’ team competition, it was Bangor the winner with 164.5 points, followed by Brewer 94, Hermon 93.5, Ellsworth 24, Foxcroft Academy 18, Bucksport 15 and Sumner 6.

Other county athletes who scored:

55-meter hurdles: Jacqueline Cormier, Sumner, sixth in 10.72 seconds.

Mile run: Nelly Winship, Bucksport, second in 5:44.31; Haley Lawrence, Ellsworth, fourth in 6:04.66.

800-meter run: Winship, Bucksport, fourth in 2:39.44.

Four-by-220-yard relay: Jamie Hoglund, Keira Eschete, Briana Fernandez and Cormier, Sumner, fourth in 2:13.55.

Shot put: Hoglund, Sumner, sixth at 23 feet, 5.25 inches.

Triple jump: Avalon Langevin, Bucksport, fifth at 29 feet, 7 inches; Jennifer Wight, Bucksport, sixth at 28 feet, 8.25 inches.
