CARIBOU — The Ellsworth Eagles scored 134.4 points to finish as runners-up behind the Hermon Hawks (139.8) in Saturday’s Big East Cheering Championships at Caribou High School.
The John Bapst Crusaders were third, followed by Old Town, Presque Isle, Caribou, the Mount Desert Island Trojans, Washington Academy and Foxcroft Academy.
In the Penobscot Valley Conference Small Schools Cheering Championship at Stearns High School in Millinocket, Houlton took top honors, followed by Central, Orono, the Sumner Tigers, Dexter, Bangor Christian, Penobscot Valley, Lee Academy, Bucksport and Mattanawcook Academy.
The PVC Large Schools Championship will be held Saturday starting at noon at Ellsworth High School.
