ELLSWORTH — The Mount Desert Island Trojans extended their perfect record to 8-0 on Tuesday with a lopsided 64-38 win over the Class C George Stevens Academy Eagles.
That win leaves the Trojans and the 7-0 Ellsworth Eagles as the only unbeaten teams in Eastern Maine Class B boys’ basketball.
But despite that lofty status, the fourth-ranked Eagles and fifth-ranked Trojans trail the top-ranked Camden Hills Windjammers, number two Gardiner and number three Medomak Valley in the standings.
In Eastern Maine Class C, the 8-1 Sumner Tigers have climbed to the top of the standings with the 4-4 Bucksport Golden Bucks ranked seventh and the 2-5 GSA Eagles 10th.
In Class D, the Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners, who upset Bucksport on Friday, are ranked ninth and the 3-1 Acadia Christian Seahawks are 18th among the 23 teams in the division.
