ORONO — Aleta Looker of the Ellsworth Eagles opened the indoor track season in fine style, winning two events in Saturday’s Eastern Maine Indoor Track League competition at the University of Maine fieldhouse.
Looker was one of five Hancock County athletes to claim individual wins in Saturday’s two meets. The Ellsworth sophomore ran to victory with the best times of the day in 800-meter and mile runs.
Other individual winners were sophomore Dan Curts of Ellsworth, freshman Caroline Driscoll of the Mount Desert Island Trojans, junior Taylor Lee of the Sumner Tigers and Eric Davis of the Bucksport Golden Bucks.
In girls’ meet A, the Bangor Rams took top honors with 203 points, followed by Hampden Academy 84, Hermon 61, Ellsworth 26, MDI 22, Foxcroft Academy 21 and Orono 12.
Looker won the 800-meter run in 2:33.03 and the mile run in 5:30.29.
Driscoll placed first in the two-mile run in 12:18.48.

Four-by-880-yard relay — Driscoll, Emma Fernald, Kayla Ray and Hannah Carroll of MDI, third, 12:02.94.
55-meter hurdles — Camilla Tai of MDI, sixth in 10.90 seconds.
400-meter run — Cecilia Thomas of MDI, sixth in 1:12.37.
800-meter run — Brooke Dunn of Ellsworth, fourth in 2:50.97; Haley Lawrence of Ellsworth, fifth in 2:52.19.
Four-by-220-yard relay — Ray, Driscoll, Shelby Sullivan and Tai of MDI, fourth in 2:15.68.\
In boys’ meet B, it was Bangor the winner with 169 points, followed by Hampden Academy 112, Orono 50, Foxcroft Academy 39, Hermon 34, Ellsworth 16 and MDI 13.
Ellsworth’s Curts took top honors in the two-mile run in 9:59.54.

Shot put — Alley of MDI, fourth at 39 feet, 5 inches.
High jump — Tyler Getchell of Ellsworth, fourth at 5 feet, 4 inches.
In girls’ meet B, the Old Town Coyotes and John Bapst Crusaders tied for first with 109 points, followed by Brewer 87, Central 32, Bucksport 25, Mattanawcook Academy 14 and Sumner 1.
County athletes who scored:
Mile run — Amber Hall of Bucksport, sixth in 6:32.49.
400-meter run — Olivia Ekelund of Bucksport, fourth in 1:09.75.
800-meter run — Nelly Winship of Bucksport, fourth in 2:43.71; Hall of Bucksport, fifth in 3:10.30.
Four-by-220-yard relay — Britney Eberhardt, Rachele Daley, Ekelund and Winship of Bucksport, fourth in 2:08.33; Jamie Hoglund, Hannah Gignoux, Avery Garrod and Jacqueline Cormier of Sumner, sixth in 2:21.62.
The Brewer Witches placed first in boys’ meet B with 106.5 points, followed by John Bapst 77, Old Town 73, Central 62, Sumner 60, Mattanawcook Academy 19.5 and Bucksport 12.
Sumner’s Lee won the mile run with a time of 5:05.08, and Bucksport’s Davis was first in the 400-meter run in 57.32 seconds.
John San Diego, Brandon Wade, Kyle Jordan and Baramee Janla of Sumner combined to win the four-by-220-yard relay in 1:43.62.

55-meter hurdles — San Diego of Sumner, fourth in 9.89 seconds.

400-meter run — Wells of Sumner, third in 58.58 seconds; San Diego of Sumner, fifth in 58.68.
200-meter run — Jordan of Sumner, fourth in 25.79 seconds.
Triple jump — Levi Cunningham of Bucksport, sixth at 29 feet, .75 inch.
High jump — Wade of Sumner, second at 5 feet, 6 inches; Jordan of Sumner, fourth at 5 feet, 4 inches.
