CASTINE — Maine Maritime Academy's athletes continue to spread the holiday cheer. Members of the Mariners' men's and women's soccer teams have participated in the Salvation Army Angel Tree for the holiday season.
The Salvation Army Angel Tree program helps children from birth through age 17.
Maine Maritime's soccer teams raised $250 and purchased presents for seven children for the upcoming holiday.
"At this time of year it is always good to help those in need and to reflect on how lucky we all are," said head coach Travers Evans.
Maine Maritime's teams have been very active in the community this winter. The men's basketball team donated hats, gloves and scarves to children in need in the Castine area, while the women's basketball, softball and volleyball teams donated gifts for children at the Emmaus Homeless Shelter in Ellsworth.
