BAR HARBOR — The Conners-Emerson golf team wrapped up its 2011 season of competitive golf for players in fifth through eighth grades, under the direction of head coach Jon Nicholson.
This season, the team boasted a record 20 golfers and was led by Kyle Lamson in eighth grade, Brennan Hubbard in sixth grade, and Kyle Nicholson and Oliver Johnston in fifth.
The season concluded with a state tournament at the Samoset Resort in Rockland on Saturday. The Emerson golf team entered two teams in the nine-hole division. Team one finished in first place with a nine-hole score of 39 and was made up of Lamson, Hubbard, Nicholson, and Johnston.
Coach Nicholson was very pleased with the win and the overall development of his team.
“It is very young, with more than half the players new to golf,” he said. “Each player greatly improved during the two months of the season.”
