BLUE HILL

Ruth Bellatty Johnson, 100, died March 9, 2009, in Blue Hill. She was born July 18, 1908, in Boston, the daughter of Charles E. and Nellie (Franklin) Bellatty.

Ruth grew up in the Boston area, but always looked forward most to her summers in Maine. She was married to the late Ed MacDonald and the late Albin W. Johnson of Randolph, Mass., where she lived for many years prior to moving to Blue Hill. She studied art at Boston University and enjoyed teaching art. Her favorite medium was water color and she loved painting the Maine coast.

She is survived by her sister, Barbara Smith Korff of Tampa, Fla.; and generations of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Allen.

A private memorial service will be held this summer when family members can congregate. Contributions in Ruth’s memory may be made to the Surry Community Church, P.O. Box 58, Surry ME 04684 or Surry Garden Club P.O. Box 83, Surry, ME 04684. Arrangements by Jordan-Fernald, 141 South St., Blue Hill. Condolences may be expressed at www.jordanfernald.com.
