CASTINE — Maine Maritime Academy senior linebacker, Chris Brawn (Winslow), was named to the Capital One/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) All-Academic District One First Team when it was announced on Friday. District One includes all of New England and New York State. All-District First Team selections advance to the Capital One Academic All-America ballot.
Brawn, a Marine Systems Engineering major sports a grade point average well above the 3.4 requirement for eligibility for the team. The senior wreaked havoc on opposing offenses with three sacks, three forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery this season. He posted 29 tackles, including 22 solo stops and four for losses.
Maine Maritime Academy suffered a spate of season-ending injuries after a 4-1 start and wound up with a 4-5 record on the year. The Mariners will not represent the Bogan in the NEFC title game for the first time in four years.
