Seven County Athletes Earn All-Star Honors

ELLSWORTH — Seven Hancock County athletes were among those named to the Maine Soccer Coaches Regional All-Star Teams for 2011.

Seniors on those teams are invited to participate in the 17th annual Maine Soccer Coaches Senior Bowl on Sunday at Hampden Academy. The boys’ game will begin at noon and the girls’ game will follow at 2:30 p.m.

The all-star players also are invited to the Maine Soccer Coaches All-Star Banquet on Sunday, Dec. 4, at 1 p.m. at the Spectacular Events Center in Bangor.

Named to the Eastern Maine Class B teams are freshman back Emily Berry of the Ellsworth Eagle girls and senior backs Josh Bean and Ben Curtis of the Ellsworth Eagle boys.

Named to the Eastern Maine Class C teams are senior midfielder Sadie Wight of the Bucksport Golden Buck girls, senior midfielder Maddie Theoharidis of the George Stevens Academy Eagle girls, senior forward Gabe O’Brien of the Sumner Tiger boys and senior goalkeeper Ben Olivari of the GSA Eagle boys.
