Open House at The Maine Grind

Written by  Stephen Fay Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 3:55 pm

ELLSWORTH — If small business is the backbone of the Maine economy, The Maine Grind building at 192 Main St. should be renamed The Maine Spine.

Fourteen separate businesses offer products or provide services, lessons or therapy.

Leslie Harlow and Peter Rogers, co-owners, have extensively remodeled the third floor of the former Masonic Hall, and created space on the other two floors, to accommodate a variety of business endeavors that include The Maine Grind coffee shop/eatery, Seven Arts Co-op, Nisa Smiley Jewelry Design, Cara Romano Jewelry Design, Jazzercise, Thomas School of Dance, Michelle Hay yoga classes for kids, Argosy Dance Studio, Monarch Creative Designs, Blue Water Intention (energy and body work), Patricia Orchard LCSW, Alchemist Salon, Macrevival (computers) and Maine’s People Alliance.

“It accounts for quite a bit of economic activity for the town,” Harlow said after the Oct. 13 Business After Hours gathering at The Grind.
