Lady Red Storm Eliminates Eagles

Written by  Hugh Bowden Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 10:46 am

SCARBOROUGH — The sixth-ranked Eagles were downed in three straight games — 25-12, 25-15 and 25-13 — by the third-seeded Scarborough Red Storm on Wednesday.

Tori Huntley led the Eagles, who closed their season at 8-7, with 8 kills and 6 assists, and Nicole Austin had 3 kills and 3 assists.

“Scarborough is a good team and to beat them would have required a huge effort, though not an impossible one,” said Ellsworth coach Corey Papadopoli. “I think that, in the end, being on that big a stage, in that gym, nerves had a lot to do with it.”
