Southwest Harbor native Peter Carter wed Michelle Guest at the Presidio in September.

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Michelle Rachel Guest and Peter Smathers Carter were married at the Golden Gate Club in the Presidio in San Francisco, Calif. on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011. The bride, 27, is the owner and designer of MIJA Jewelry in Washington, D.C. She is the daughter of Dr. Dennis and Lara Guest of Orinda, Calif. and is a graduate of the University of California-Los Angeles.
The groom, 29, is a founder of Smathers & Branson, a manufacturer of needlepoint belts and accessories in Bethesda, Md. He is the son of Ann Judd of Southwest Harbor and Dr. Peter K. Carter of York. He attended Pemetic Elementary School and Mount Desert Island High School. He graduated from Deerfield Academy in 2000 and Bowdoin College in 2004.
