TREMONT — David L. Hinckley, 46, died unexpectedly, Oct. 6, 2011 at Eastern Maine Medical Center, with many family members by his side.
He was born March 13, 1965 in Bar Harbor, the son of Gary N. and Nancy L. (Higgins) Hinckley. David graduated from Mount Desert Island High School as a member of the Class of 1983.
Following graduation he worked at the Jackson Laboratory. He was active in sports, loved life and was known for his sense of humor. He was always on the go until a terrible car accident in August of 1986 caused him to remain in a rehabilitation hospital for the past 25 years.
Family and friends continued to visit him, as he still brought joy and laughter to everyone. He will be greatly missed.
David is survived by his parents, Gary and Nancy Hinckley of Bernard; two sisters, Cathy Hinckley and Amanda Williams and her husband, Bob, all of Bernard; his grandmother of Bernard, Harriett Higgins; three nieces, Cassie and Madison Williams and Emma Frye and nephews Derek Williams and Aaron Hinckley, all of Bernard; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A simple graveside ceremony is set for noon on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011 at Head of the Harbor Cemetery on the Marsh Road in Bass Harbor.
Arrangements are by Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert.
