MDI’s Elias Burne charges against Nokomis defenders.

NEWPORT — Elias Burne scored four touchdowns for the Mount Desert Island Trojans in a 30-26 win over the Nokomis Warriors on Saturday.
Burne scored on runs of six and three yards in the first half, but the Warriors held a 20-14 halftime lead, thanks to the efforts of Austin Chipman.
Chipman reeled off a 75-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the first quarter and scored on runs of eight yards and one yard in the second period.
Burne finally gave the Trojans the lead when he caught a 53-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Donny Hersom in the third period, and he put MDI up 30-20 with a one-yard touchdown plunge.
Chipman closed the gap for the Warriors with his final touchdown on a 33-yard run in the fourth period to finish with 153 yards on 22 carries.
Burne rushed for 143 yards on 25 carries and Jayson Burke had 109 yards on 24 carries for the Trojans, who evened their record at 3-3.
MDI will host the Hampden Academy Broncos Friday at 7 p.m.
