BAR HARBOR — On Saturday the third and fourth-grade Acadian football team fell to Bucksport 19-8 in a well-played mudbowl, according to head coach Ken Hill.
During the game, Sam “Speedy” Mitchell had a touchdown, Maddox “Demon” Laurendeau scored an extra point kick.
The extra point kick was a highlight as those are very rare in the 3-4 league.
Though the field was wet, the Trojans came out hot in the first half (leading the Bucks 8-6). But the heat fizzled in the second half and the Bucks eventually bested the Trojans 19-8. The Trojans continue to improve as the season progresses. Their record demonstrates a trend of putting more points on the scoreboard while at the same time reducing their opponents’ ability to score.
Stevie Gilbert and Quincy Rozeff shut down the Bucksport sweep at the end of the half. Quarterback Logan Beckwith completed one of two passes to Aiden Wallick, and ran for a total of 25 yards (one being a 14-yard scramble down the right side). Nick Corson and Cameron Abbot dominated the defensive field with many behind-the-line tackles. Travis Boumil made a hit for an 8-yard Golden Buck loss.
