BAR HARBOR — The Jesup Memorial Library is offering a public screening of “Dancing at the Mill,” on Friday, Oct.7 beginning at 7 p.m.
“Dancing at the Mill,” depicts life on Mount Desert Island from the mid-1700s through the late 1940s. It combines rare film footage provided by the Savage family with still images and custom-shot video.
This film was written by Gunnar Hansen, who also wrote the book “Mount Desert: an Informal History” and directed numerous documentary films.
“Dancing at the Mill,” was produced by Jeff Dobbs and Bing Miller of Dobbs Productions, known throughout the state for their striking films about Maine’s communities and history, including “Gift of Acadia” and “Maine: America’s Coast.”
This film project was made possible through the support of generous donors and through fund-raising events such as this showing at the Jesup, organizers say. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. A donation at the door is requested. For additional information contact the library at 288-4245 or check out the library website at www.jesup.lib.me.us.
