Festival of Champions Slated for Saturday

BELFAST — High schools from throughout Maine and beyond will converge on Belfast on Saturday for the annual Festival of Champions at the Troy Howard Middle School.

The series of six races over the 5,000-meter course includes:

Unseeded girls, 11:20 a.m.

Unseeded boys, 12:10 p.m.

Freshman girls, 12:55 p.m.

Freshman boys, 1:35 p.m.

Seeded girls, 2:15 p.m.

Seeded boys, 2:50 p.m.

The top-seeded runners from Hancock County include Ellsworth’s Looker, seeded ninth, and Nicole Bakeman of the George Stevens Academy Eagles, seeded 28th, in the girls’ race; and Ellsworth’s Curts, seeded ninth, and GSA’s River Vogel, seeded 30th, in the boys’ race.

The awards ceremony will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the school gymnasium.
