EAST MACHIAS — In a hard-fought match on Monday, the Washington Academy Raiders edged the Ellsworth Eagles 3-2.
Ellsworth won the first game 25-10, but WA rallied for wins of 26-24 and 25-14 before the Eagles knotted the match with a 25-18 win.
The Raiders prevailed in the final contest 15-7 as both teams saw their records evened at 4-4.
For Ellsworth, Tori Huntley had 6 aces and 11 kills; Elloria Doe had 6 aces and 3 kills; Nicole Austin had 3 kills and 2 assists; and Hollie Hutchinson had 4 aces, 2 kills and 3 assists.
